Sucker Punch opening

~
The opening of this thriller shows off some very interesting visual effects and intense character play which grabs the attention of the audience and builds up an air of tension and mystery which gets the viewers asking questions before any main dialougue has even started.

The establishing shot of this film is of a theatre stage which straight away puts the veiws in the audience seat and involves them in the film by showing that they are spectatiors. Not spectators of the film but rather spectators of what is to come. By placing them in the theatre seats of the scene it creates a fourth wall making the audience imedietly get drawn in.

The opening fits a lot of the thriller conventions. It creates tension, there is an over voice narrative, there's low key lighting and fast editing. There is also a variaty of camera angles including high angle shots which show the vaunrability of the characters causing the audience to feel connected with the characters.
